David Oakden

David Oakden has 40 years’ experience as a property and casualty insurance (P&C) actuary, during which time he has worked in insurance company management, as a consultant, and most recently as a regulator.

In April 2013 he retired from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI), where he had served as managing director in the actuarial division for seven years. In addition to managing actuarial issues for the supervision and regulation of P&C companies, Mr. Oakden served as OSFI’s representative to the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). Following his retirement, the IAIS recognized his service by honouring him as a Distinguished Fellow.

Throughout his career, Mr. Oakden has been active in the actuarial profession, serving as President of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (2000–2001) and as a member of the Board of the Casualty Actuarial Society (2002–2005).
